1.) Sunny side up:
A few days before mother's day, plan breakfast or brunch with mom for the day of. You can get creative by creating a cute menu with different breakfast items that she can choose from - eggs, fruit bowl, yogurts, granolas, pancakes and waffles are all classic breakfast go-to's that would start anyone's day out right. Just make sure to clean the kitchen when you're done so mom can enjoy her day.
2.) Handpicked to Her Heart:
Spring is the perfect time to handpick the prettiest of blooming flowers. Maybe you have them to pick from your own yard, but if you don't then hit the trails, where you can find wildflowers or tall grasses.
3.) Spring Clean:
Is there a list of household chores that mom tackles through the week or on the weekend?
Offer to tackle that list for her, and encourage mom to use that time to do something that she enjoys.
4.) Get outside:
We have been cooped up for way too long. Mother's day is the perfect day to invite your mom on a nature walk. Maybe your city has a sculpture garden, or a community flower garden where you can sit and enjoy the scenery. Consider packing snacks and beverages to stay hydrated and avoid those hangry pains.
5.) Picnic in the park:
Take mom to a neighborhood park, lay out a blanket, and enjoy yourselves a wonderful picnic. Keep it simple with sandwiches, fruit, chips or nuts, and a beverage.
6.) Get Crafty:
Pull out the paper, color pencils or pens, and scissors, and hand make a card for mom. If you can't find the words to say, just do a web search and find the right phrase that means the most to you. She'll love the fact that you took the time to create something special and heartfelt.
7.) Movie and Popcorn:
Do you and mom have a movie that you love to watch together, maybe a black or white or a cult classic? Bring on the laughs, or have a good cry, just like old times.
