With the return of very mild air, the next precipitation maker will bring some snow AND rain showers late Monday. A coating of slushy snow will be possible Monday evening and overnight, mainly in northeast Minnesota and northwest Wisconsin where it'll be just a bit colder.
Rain and snow showers look to develop for west central MN early this afternoon and expand east by late afternoon and evening for the Twin Cities area (likely around 3pm) through the evening hours (9-10pm)
Temperatures will be near or above freezing, meaning that roadway likely will just be wet and the snow that falls will be slushy.

The best chance for snowfall will be mainly just north of the Twin Cities but a few models do produce some measurable snowfall in the Twin Cities. The models tend to not handle these 'warm' snowfalls well however, so accumulations likely are being over-forecast by the models. We'd need quick, heavy bursts of snow for it to really accumulate to these levels (which isn't out of the question):

The thing to watch will be where a *narrow* area of heavy snow bursts develops. In that area, there is the chance of 1 to 3 inches of snow. The models vary some with the Twin Cities on the southern edge of this in some but north in others.

Beyond Monday, there's another slight chance of a few rain/snow showers Thursday but otherwise it will be very mild and relatively quiet through next weekend...
