The perfect backdrop to #LiveYourPremierLife

COVID has been hard on us, and I live alone. At the start of the pandemic, I felt really isolated, and it got me thinking about others who might feel the same. Which is our elderly community. I wanted to find a way to give back and love snail mail - anything is better than receiving a bill in the mail. I’ve been working on this project silently for months and then recruited family, friends, and a few colleagues, and we’ve been able to deliver over 790 cards right up until Christmas. Since publicly launching, we have delivered more than 1,100 cards to area nursing homes and assisted living facilities. It's impressive to see everyone's kindness and generosity!
I’ve received so many inspiring messages and stories from people talking about their grandparents, or how they’ve missed them, and some who have even passed during COVID. There’s been so much support. I believe that it's better to give than receive, but the secret here is that the giver or the writer, receives just as much happiness, if not more, than the person receiving the card. I can’t solve all of the world’s problems, but I do feel like we can make it a kinder place, even if it’s just one card at a time.
What is Adopt-A-Grandparent?
Adopt-A-Grandparent is actually a program that originated in London, and when I read about it, I really wanted to bring the program here on a local level.

COVID-19 has impacted person-to-person connectedness, especially in our elderly population. Adopt-A-Grandparent is a way for you to help lonely and isolated seniors by sending them a card, letter, artwork and a little bit of cheer. There really is power in receiving a handwritten note and I am determined to help bring back the long lost art of handwriting back!
How can people help out and get involved?
I would love your help! Let's continue to spread love and kindness (and not germs!)
FIRST - Write your letter/card! You can write as many as you’d like. Get out your stickers, and dust off those art skills you haven’t used in awhile – get creative! Don’t forget to include your address if you would like them to write you back.
NEXT – Send the cards my way! Put them all in a big giant envelope and I will be sending them or dropping them off to our new friends!
After that, await a response! The aim is that this grows into a friendship. You might not get a response, and that’s ok! You’re still spreading cheer!

11 Insanely Easy Spring Cleaning Tips - that will have your home ready for the Spring Market

unnecessary items around your home that you won’t have immediate use for will clear a fresh slate for buyers. Clear out all closets, drawers, and vanities of anything that you don’t use daily, and pack away seasonal clothing, personal photos, personal papers, magazines, books, toys, and religious memorabilia. Keep in mind that buyers will look through EVERYTHING. So stage what’s left behind for daily use as you would see through department and food store shelves.
Neat and tidy gives the impression of a well kempt home.
2.) Windows:
Let in as much natural light as possible. This starts with clean windows and screens. Clean all windows, inside and out: remove seasonal dirt and grime on the outside, and all dust and streaks on the inside.
PREMIER TIP: For the clearest and brightest look, leave off all screens and store them in a safe place while your home is listed on the market. (Label them appropriately with painters tape, to help the next owner(s) match the screens back with their windows.)

3) Deep Clean the Kitchen:
If you’re not hiring a professional to clean the house (something you should consider to save you the time and energy) you’ll want to make sure you deep clean the kitchen:
Start by clearing the counters of unnecessary clutter (you want the counters to look as spacious as possible) - pack away oversized appliances, cookbooks, and personal items.
Empty the refrigerator, and rid of anything that has expired or isn’t being consumed (you wouldn’t want a buyer to open the fridge, and they will open the fridge, to be slapped with ungodly smells.) Working from top to bottom clean the shelves, drawers, and walls with a food safe all-purpose cleaner.
Dust. Dust. Dust the tops of walls, cabinets, and lighting. Don’t forget the top of the refrigerator.
Clean all of the cabinetry with a degreaser that is safe to use on woodwork.
Clean the microwave (inside and out) - PREMIER TIP: Put a wet rag or sponge into the microwave and run for 3 - 5 minutes, and then let the rag sit for 1 more minute to allow the steam work on that grime. Then wipe away. You can also squeeze lemon on to the rag/sponge for that lemon fresh scent too!
Clean the oven removing the same grime that the microwave had.
Lastly, clean all countertops, and sweep and mop the floors.
Accomplishing this list will have your kitchen sparkling, and your appliances looking new.
